Running an event on EventScreen
EventScreen handles the parts of a paid live broadcast that are tedious to build yourself: receiving your video, preparing it for viewers, selling tickets, and keeping the stream behind the ticket. This page describes what an organizer does and what the platform does.
Your side
You create an event in the organizer dashboard with a title, description, date, price and visibility. You then send your live video to the address the dashboard gives you, from the encoder or production software you already use, using RTMP or SRT. A free event costs a flat fee to schedule, and a paid event costs a flat fee plus a commission on ticket sales. The current figures are in the Organizer Terms of Service.
What the platform does
- Receives your stream and prepares it for viewers at qualities that suit different connections.
- Starts the broadcast infrastructure for your event and shuts it down afterward.
- Sells tickets and keeps the video available only to people who bought one.
- Limits each ticket to one device at a time.
- Keeps a replay for a window you choose, then deletes it.
Ways to sell
Viewers can buy a single event, subscribe to your organization for a monthly price that covers all of your events, or buy a bundle of events for one price. Events can be public and listed, or private and reachable only through a link you share. Your organization gets its own page with your logo, banner, colors and description, where viewers can follow you and see everything you have published. A company with several groups can run each group as its own organization.
Ad breaks
The Ad Manager add-on lets you insert ad breaks into a live event. You upload ad creatives, group them into playlists, and trigger a break from the dashboard, a Stream Deck or an API call. Every break is recorded in an as-run log you can give to a sponsor. The add-on has its own monthly fee and a per-event hosting fee, listed in the organizer terms.
On your own website
You can embed the player or a list of your events on your own site. The embedded player hands the viewer to the real event page for sign-in and payment, so no one has to sign in inside a third-party frame.
Getting paid
Ticket sales go through EventScreen's Stripe account. After the platform commission and payment processing fees, the remainder is paid out to you. How and when payouts happen is described in the organizer terms.
Start
New organizers apply first. Send an application that says who you are and what you plan to stream. We review each one by hand, and if it is approved we create your organization and email you a sign-in link. If you already have access, use the organizer sign in page. For questions before you apply, write to [email protected].
